Our team provided full stack engineering support to a biopharmaceutical company’s oncology data science division. The work focused on an internal portal for managing pathology image data used in AI/ML model training, with additional use of AI-assisted tools to support development.

Our client is a leading biopharmaceutical organisation with a dedicated oncology data science division. The group develops technology, software and data infrastructure to advance oncology data science across research teams, with a clear vision to make data science a driver of innovation within the field.
Scaling support for oncology data science
The client needed to expand its engineering capacity by bringing in full stack developers who could integrate seamlessly into an established internal team. The primary challenge was not technical complexity but ensuring smooth collaboration, knowledge sharing and ongoing support within an existing workflow.

Building tools for pathology image analysis
Our engineers supported the development of an internal portal designed to manage pathology image data for AI/ML model training. The portal enables researchers to upload labelled pathology images, apply machine learning models for image segmentation, and visualise results as overlays on the original images.
Beyond platform functionality, the team introduced AI-assisted engineering practices. Large Language Models (LLMs), including Amazon Bedrock and OpenCode, were used to generate code change suggestions, while GitHub Copilot supported the review process through automated checks. Together, these tools streamlined development and improved code quality.
