ABOUT CLIENT:
IDO6 is a Swedish provider of systems that simplifies the validation of a person’s identity and connects every employer to an employee in a secure way. It helps companies streamline their daily operations in all industries. ID06 has several areas of use, such as attendance registration in electronic personnel ledgers, digitization of education certificates, and access and lock functions. The company solutions are widely used at the construction sites where the utilization of an electronic personnel ledger is obligatory.

PROJECT GOAL:
Our primary goal was to migrate ID06’s web applications to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. This migration aimed to transition from the previous hosting infrastructure to a more reliable and scalable provider. Additionally, we aimed to streamline data migration efforts.

Our role in the project

Holisticon Connect team was responsible for migration ID06 system to the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform including:
Step-by-Step Migration Strategy: starting with front-end applications, then stateless services, and progressing through alpha to beta before reaching the production environment
 
Codebase Refactoring and Adaptation the existing codebase to fully utilize Azure features, such as Application Insights, and ensure that applications were compatible with the new cloud environment.

User Experience Maintenance: setting up Gluu Instances for account and permissions management while already in place to enhance their integration with Azure. It was crucial in maintaining a seamless user experience during and after the migration.

Testing at Each Migration Step: to ensure a smooth transition and prevent disruptions in overall functionality. It involved creating comprehensive testing protocols to validate application performance and data integrity at every migration stage.

ChalleNges

The migration process presented several challenges, including:
– existing codebase refactoring to ensure optimal utilization of the cloud platform’s capabilities.
– maintaining a seamless user experience during and after migration.
It required careful consideration of the impact on end users and the implementation of measures to mitigate any potential disruptions.

IMPACT

Our efforts resulted in successfully running applications in the Azure environment, fully integrated with Azure’s services. This migration not only improved infrastructure reliability but also allowed us to achieve better performance and scalability. With Azure, we gained full control over our infrastructure and benefited from a more dependable hosting provider. This, along with the successful data migration, profoundly impacted the overall efficiency and reliability of applications, setting the stage for future growth and innovation.
