BACKGROUND
Coala Life, a Swedish digital health venture, aimed to revolutionise heart disease detection by developing a wireless, digital heart monitor. Starting their research in 2000, Coala Life aimed to create a product that could predict and support the early detection of heart diseases, catering to both end-consumers and professionals. With the collaboration of Holisticon Insight (Nexer Insight), Coala Life sought to transform their innovative idea into a medically certified, market-ready product.
CHALLENGE
Coala Life faced the challenge of developing a comprehensive solution that seamlessly integrated hardware, connectivity, and cloud technology for real-time heart monitoring and diagnosis. The goal was to create a user-friendly product that anyone could use anywhere and provide accurate, near real-time heart rate and ECG analysis. Additionally, the solution needed to include a robust medical records system and an e-commerce platform to facilitate sales while maintaining the highest medical certification and regulatory compliance standards.

Coala Life partnered with Holisticon Insight (Nexer Insight) to address these challenges, leveraging their expertise and resources throughout development. Agile teams were formed to work closely on every aspect of the project. This included hardware development, connectivity solutions, app development, and creating a fully integrated cloud system. The collaboration between Coala Life and Holisticon Insight (Nexer Insight) culminated in the successful launch of the Coala Heart Monitor, a CE-certified medical device (CLASS II). This revolutionary product enables users to record heart rates and measure ECGs quickly and easily through advanced membranes placed on the chest and a reference thumb ECG measurement. The real-time analysis performed in the cloud provides immediate and accurate heart diagnoses. The Coala Heart Monitor has set a new standard in heart monitoring, garnering numerous awards and global recognition. It has successfully fulfilled Coala Life’s mission of allowing anyone to monitor and analyse heart activity anytime. Holisticon Insight (Nexer Insight) continues to enhance the product’s features and scalability through advanced analytics, supporting Coala Life’s expansion into new markets.
