A leading global professional services firm required a scalable and reliable method to analyse large volumes of audit data sourced from multiple systems. The objective was to enable auditors to handle complex transactional and ledger data more efficiently, reducing manual effort and significantly shortening the time-frame for generating audit reports. About client
The client is a major global audit and advisory organisation operating across diverse markets and complex regulatory environments. Their audit teams manage extensive datasets extracted from a wide range of client systems, often working under stringent time constraints. As data volumes grew, traditional approaches to data analysis became increasingly inefficient and difficult to scale effectively.
Turning growing data volumes into actionable insights
The main challenge was handling a rapidly growing amount of audit data while maintaining performance and reliability. Business users expected imported and transformed data to be available as quickly as possible, yet processing large files required significant computing resources and careful optimisation.
Generating audit reports could take hours, limiting the ability of auditors to iterate, validate findings, and respond quickly to new questions. The client needed a solution that could scale with data growth while remaining easy to use for non-technical users.
Our role and approach
Holisticon Connect joined the project to design and build a cloud-based data processing and analytics solution. Our role covered the end-to-end delivery of the platform, from data ingestion and transformation to analytics and reporting.
We focused on creating a lightweight, scalable architecture that would optimise data processing and support interactive analysis. Key design decisions were driven by performance requirements, cost efficiency, and the need to make audit data easily accessible to business users.
What we delivered
The solution was built around a cloud-based ETL process that enabled efficient ingestion and transformation of large audit datasets. Modern data formats and incremental processing were introduced to reduce processing time and system load.
An analytics-ready architecture was designed to integrate seamlessly with Power BI, allowing auditors to analyse data, explore related transactions, and generate reports without technical assistance. The platform supported data aggregation and summarisation across multiple systems, enabling consistent and reliable audit analysis.
