We designed and implemented a modern, cloud-based data architecture to replace fragmented, manual processes for a leading UK electric vehicle infrastructure operator. This end-to-end solution provides a reliable “single source of truth,” enabling the client to monitor, operate, and optimise their rapidly expanding charging hub network through automated analytics and reporting. 

About the Client 

The client is a prominent UK-based operator of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, specialising in the deployment of rapid and ultra-rapid public charging hubs. Operating within the energy-transition and mobility sector, the company manages a nationwide network situated in high-traffic urban and commercial locations. Their core focus is driving the transition to electric mobility through reliable, data-driven network management and high-quality user experiences for internal operations and business stakeholders.

Building a stable foundation for rapid growth 

From the start, the client was looking for more than just a technical provider; they wanted a partner to modernise their data infrastructure and take over its long-term maintenance. The main goal was to move away from manual, scattered processe – built primarily on spreadsheets and isolated Power BI models and build a central, cloud-based system that would act as a reliable single source of truth. This was a major hurdle, as existing solutions had reached their limits, leading to frequent errors and manual data fixes that created risks for the business. 

The core difficulty lay in transforming these heterogeneous data sources into a professional, scalable platform while separating analytical logic from the technical setup. As the company planned to grow its data landscape with new sources for advanced analytics, they needed immediate access to experts who could bridge the gap between cloud engineering and data science. Finding these hybrid specialists in the UK’s competitive job market was a significant challenge, making a flexible, external support model essential to keep the platform stable and the data accurate during this period of rapid expansion. 

Our role in the project 

We delivered end-to-end data engineering services, moving from the initial architecture design to long-term operational support. Our role was to ensure the platform remained stable, secure, and ready to scale alongside the client’s growing infrastructure.

Impact and results 

The implementation of the new data platform has fundamentally changed how the client manages its nationwide charging network. By moving away from manual processes, the organisation has significantly reduced operational risk and eliminated the time-consuming effort of manual data corrections. The new infrastructure provides internal teams with a single, trusted source of data, which is critical for advanced analytics, performance monitoring, and accurate forecasting.

This digital transformation has led to much faster decision-making, as automated Power BI integration now gives stakeholders near real-time visibility into network performance. Operational efficiency has also improved, with the automated ETL pipeline handling complex transformations from multiple sources, allowing analysts to focus on generating insights rather than cleaning data. Furthermore, the choice of Snowflake ensures cost-effective scaling by separating compute and storage costs, while the implementation of fine-grained security roles protects sensitive energy data. Through this partnership, the client has maintained its development momentum and can now focus entirely on its mission of driving the UK’s energy transition.
