Kodcentrum and Nexer Group have collaborated to translate one of the Codebook’s programming games into Ukrainian to support Ukrainian children in Ukraine and Sweden. This week, 14 children who have fled from Ukraine and now live in Stockholm were invited to a hackathon at Nexer’s office to code together. Thanks to Star for Life Ukraine, three children in Kiev, Ukraine, were also able to participate and code via Teams. During the hackathon, the children programmed in Scratch while their parents enjoyed coffee and networked with each other. After the programming session, everyone was treated to wood-fired pizza outdoors. Both parents and children expressed a desire for continuation, and we look forward to continued collaboration.
Beatrice Silow, Communications and Culture Manager, Nexer Group says: “This is a fantastic way to build bridges and support Ukrainian children in Sweden and Ukraine. We are delighted to be a collaborative partner with Kodcentrum and Star for Life Ukraine, enabling programming for children and contributing to a better future.”
Kristina Bjerka, Secretary General, Kodcentrum, adds: “For Kodcentrum, it is important that all children, regardless of their circumstances, have the opportunity to try new challenges and have meaningful leisure time.”
